Regions of Gujarat are based on geographic location & their climate. Kutch * Geographic location - central in Gujarat * Climate - Dry & semi desertic * Culture & heritage - Rich in culture,tradition & heritage. * Language/Dialect - The languages spoken predominantly in Kutch is Kutchi and to lesser extent Sindhi and Gujarati. Kutchi is a dialect of Sindhi. Saurashtra * Geographic location - It is part of Gujarat state, bounded on the north by the great wetland of the Rann of Kutch, on the northwest by the Gulf of Kutch, on the west and south by the Arabian Sea, and on the southeast and east by the Gulf of Cambay. * Climate - dry & soil is black with high moisture. * Culture & heritage - Kathiawar produced the finest poets, freedom fighters, business icons and the people of Kathaiwar’s bravery, hospitality (to the extent that the host would give his life for the comfort of the guest). * Language/Dialect - Kathiaawadi which has large set of different words from Gujarati. Common difference from Gujarati is most time "aa" is replaced with "e" while speaking. North Gujarat * Geographic location - North part of Gujarat. * Climate - air is dry but soil is fertile & moisure is less though recent irrigation project has given significant advantage in farming. * Culture & heritage - so called native Gujarati & have simple clothing which is quite common in India. * Language/Dialect - similar to Gujarati language with little exceptions. East Gujarat * Geographic location - East part of Gujarat. * Climate - Medium high rain & so the forests are more. * Culture & heritage - Most people who live are forest tribes & forest dwellers * Language/Dialect - quite different from Gujarati, has significant different words, large set of words for forest related terms. Central Gujarat * Geographic location - located in center part of Gujarat. * Climate - similar to north Gujarat but farming land is quite less though its fertile wherever it is. * Culture & heritage - same like north Gujarat. * Language/Dialect - language considered to be base of Gujarati, still has been impacted by other regions. South Gujarat * Geographic location - located in south part of Gujarat. * Climate - semi dry to low humid.
